Cave Pearls are mysterious pearls found within the caves, this type of formation is very rare, they looks like pearls, it is created when the currents from the water causing tiny sand or rock fragments to rotate in a pool of water and in the process, the nucleus is coated with calcium, in the calcium- rich water found in the cave causing it have a spherical shape. They are usually 1 or 2 cm in diameter. Bigger ones up to 15 cm have been found.
Sometimes when the pearls become big and sink to the bottom of the pool and it is covered up again by sediments or calcium, like the one found in the picture below.
The Cave Pearls that I acquired are from Sam Roi Yod, Thailand. The cave has been said to be out of bound since 30 years ago, these cave pearls are quite rare and limited.
Weathering marks (similar to those found on ancient Tibetan DZI beads 天珠) can be found on some of the Cave Pearl indicating it has been formed for long period of time estimated to be a few thousand years. The Chinese name this stone龙宫舍利, which literally means relic of the dragon cave, other names include white leklai or snow relic.
The picture below are 2 large Cave Pearl that display very nice weathering marks.
